Purpose of the Role: To deliver a high-quality waste collection and transportation service based at Chelson Meadow and Weston Mill Household Waste Recycling Centres, ensuring operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and effectively. Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a range of vehicles, including skip vehicles, hook loaders, and articulated vehicles with trailers.
- Ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient collection, transportation, and disposal of waste materials both on and off site to designated disposal points.
- Maintain accurate records of loads moved, ensuring compliance with weights and measures requirements and Environment Agency regulations.
- Maintain a valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) and digital tachograph card at all times.
- Adhere to Operator (O) Licence requirements, driving regulations, and Working Time Directive rules.
- Ensure high standards of productivity, work quality, and operational efficiency.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional approach when interacting with the public and stakeholders.
- Uphold the reputation of Plymouth City Council through the delivery of a critical frontline service.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects in line with procedures.
