Butler Rose is exclusively recruiting a Senior Payroll Clerk for a well-established organisation based in Yeovil. This is a fully office-based position, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to take ownership of high-volume payroll operations within a supportive and stable environment. Reporting to the Head of Payroll, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of both weekly and monthly payrolls, while supporting and developing a team of Payroll Administrators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage weekly and monthly payrolls end-to-end
  • Review and validate payroll inputs, including salaries, benefits and deductions
  • Process statutory payments including PAYE, National Insurance and pension contributions
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records and ensure data integrity
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and internal policies
  • Conduct payroll audits and resolve discrepancies
  • Support complex pay structures and timesheet processes
  • Respond to payroll queries from employees and stakeholders
  • Supervise, coach and develop Payroll Administrators
  • Produce payroll reports and support internal stakeholders

About you

  • Proven experience in a Senior Payroll or similar role
  • Experience managing high-volume payrolls for a minimum of 600 employees
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance
  • Previous experience supervising or mentoring team members
  • Ability to reliably commute to Yeovil
  • Confident user of Excel
