We are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Trade Waste Operator at our Filton site in Bristol. As a Trade Effluent Plant Operator, you will work as part of a team to achieve maximum effectiveness and efficiency of the onsite Trade Effluent Facility, working closely with the Regulatory Compliance Team to ensure the plant operates without disruption to production wet treatment facilities.

The Plant Operator will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the plant, ensuring all effluents received are treated and discharged within the Consent limits set by The Sewage Undertaker (Bristol Wessex Water). The role includes:

  • Maintaining plant and equipment such as sump pumps internally and externally.
  • Checking and topping up oils and sand filters.
  • Cleaning all equipment and materials as required.
  • Checking stock levels.
  • Testing and confirming calibration of all plant and equipment.
  • Controlling input of all effluents into the Trade Effluent Facility.
  • Sampling and analysing effluents prior to batch treatment.
  • Completing a detailed log of all daily tests and activities.
  • Performing lower-level skills and activities, including cleaning and assisting out of trade activity.
  • Working with subcontractors when required.
  • Demonstrating improvements to plant reliability and availability.
