We have an exciting new opportunity for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Flood and Coastal MEICA team based in our Cambridge or Bristol office.
About us: It’s a fantastic time to become part of Stantec’s Flood and Coastal team as we continue to grow nationally! Our engineers are experts in creating high performing, sustainable environments. We work across all flood defence infrastructure projects, from sluice gates and gravity‑driven solutions to refurbishment and replacement pump‑station projects that adhere to the Eel Regulations.
The Opportunity: You’ll be joining a highly motivated and collaborative team of engineers who are passionate about delivering sustainable, innovative solutions and who genuinely enjoy what they do. You will lead the day‑to‑day technical delivery of mechanical design services on multidisciplinary pumping‑station and water‑control projects. You will oversee the production of high‑quality design deliverables, including specifications, drawings, and schedules. You will mentor junior team members, including graduates and apprentices, and play a key role in their career development.
About You: You will be an experienced Senior Mechanical / Principal Mechanical Engineer with a passion for delivering sustainable solutions for your clients and will have the following:
- Proven experience as a Senior Mechanical / Principal Mechanical Engineer in the UK, ideally with a track record of delivering solutions across water and/or flood defence sectors.
- Supported, developed or mentored junior colleagues.
- Experienced with BIM processes and tools including Revit.
- Working closely with and managing contractors.
- A collaborative mindset and experience working closely with a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications: A relevant qualification (HNC, HND, Bachelors or Masters) in Mechanical Engineering. Ideally chartered status with the IMechE or CIWEM.
