We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Legal Secretary to provide direct support to the Director within a busy Criminal and Civil Law practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a capable administrator or experienced legal secretary looking to develop their career in a fast paced legal environment. Previous experience in Criminal or Civil Law is advantageous but not essential; full support and guidance will be provided. We are looking for someone with strong organisational skills, discretion, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
Responsibilities
- Providing comprehensive secretarial and PA support to the Director
- Audio typing and preparation of legal documents and correspondence
- Managing diaries, scheduling meetings, and coordinating court dates
- Liaising with clients, courts, barristers, and third parties professionally
- Preparing and submitting legal forms and documentation
- Managing confidential files and ensuring compliance with GDPR and firm procedures
- Handling telephone enquiries and acting as a key point of contact
- Assisting with billing, file management, and general administrative duties
- Supporting case preparation for both Criminal and Civil matters
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, PA, or in a professional administrative role
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of discretion and confidentiality
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Audio typing skills desirable
- Experience within Criminal or Civil Law beneficial but not required
