The Role: Ilchester Estates is a large Dorset estate where the farming side of the business is managed by Velcourt. The enterprise covers 3,300 ha in hand, supporting a 750 kW biogas plant, 1,800 dairy cows, 1,300 youngstock and 5,000 sheep. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Farm Maintenance Operative to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide weekend and holiday cover for the day-to-day operation of the biogas plant (feeding, daily equipment checks, performance monitoring, etc.)
- Assist with biogas plant maintenance
- Possible haulage of feedstocks
- Provide on-call cover for the Biogas Manager on an agreed rota
- Carry out maintenance of farm equipment across the wider estate
Skills & Experience Required:
- Hands on mechanical and/or electrical skills
- Welding and fabrication experience
- General farm and equipment maintenance skills
- A consistent, practical approach to problem solving
- Strong health, safety and environmental awareness
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Previous AD / biogas experience desirable but not essential
