About the Apprenticeship

We are offering an exciting opportunity to start your career as a Lifting Equipment Technician Apprentice. This is a hands-on, practical apprenticeship where you will learn how to inspect, maintain, repair, install, and test lifting equipment used across a wide range of industries including construction, marine, manufacturing, energy, entertainment, and more. You will gain real workplace experience while working alongside experienced technicians, developing the skills and knowledge needed to ensure lifting equipment is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.

What You Will Do

  • Repair, maintain, inspect, test, install, and assemble lifting equipment
  • Assist in modifying equipment to ensure safety and compliance
  • Learn how to identify and report unsafe equipment
  • Support decommissioning or removal of equipment when required
  • Work with senior technicians to understand technical drawings and documentation
  • Learn how to complete inspection reports and technical records
  • Develop an understanding of Health & Safety and regulatory requirements
  • Keep tools, equipment, and working areas clean and safe
  • Travel to client sites with experienced staff to gain on-site experience

Training and Development

  • Full on-the-job training with experienced technicians
  • Structured learning programme leading to a recognised qualification in lifting equipment inspection and maintenance
  • Development of technical, mechanical, and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of industry regulations and safety standards
  • Support from a dedicated supervisor and mentor throughout your apprenticeship

About You

  • Interested in engineering, mechanics, or hands-on technical work
  • Practical, reliable, and willing to learn
  • Comfortable working in different environments (workshops and client sites)
  • Good at basic maths (Level 2 Maths or equivalent is usually required)
  • A strong communicator and team player
  • Safety conscious with attention to detail
  • Holds a full driving licence or willing to work towards it (desirable)
