We are looking for an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at a well-established and respected nursing home environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and organised Sous Chef who enjoys preparing fresh, nutritious meals while working within a supportive and professional kitchen team. The role offers an excellent work-life balance with no late nights, straight shifts, and a 4-day working week.
As Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring high standards of food quality, hygiene, and service are maintained at all times. You will play an important role in creating enjoyable dining experiences for residents while helping maintain a calm and efficient kitchen operation.

Job Type: Full-time Permanent
Working Hours: 40 hours per week over 4 days, predominantly 8:30am - 6:30pm shifts
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head Chef during all food service operations
- Prepare and cook meals to a high standard following established recipes and guidelines
- Assist with breakfast, lunch, and supper service
- Ensure all food is prepared safely and hygienically in line with food safety regulations
- Help create textured diet meals following IDDSI guidelines (full training provided)
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen
- Support stock control, deliveries, and ingredient storage
- Work closely with residents and colleagues to provide excellent service
- Help maintain a positive and efficient working environment
- Run the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
What We're Looking For:
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Chef, or Cook within a professional kitchen environment
- Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene standards
- Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods
- Good organisation skills and attention to detail
