We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead the safe, compliant and efficient operation of our Widnes biomass fuel production site. You will have full responsibility for health & safety, environmental compliance, operational performance and site budgets, overseeing feedstock acceptance, stock management and fuel production. Leading the on-site team, you'll embed a strong safety first culture while driving performance across production, quality, maintenance coordination and housekeeping. You’ll also manage the operational relationship with the fuel offtake customer, ensuring specifications and service levels are consistently met. Proven experience in biomass fuel production, waste wood processing or similar industrial operations with a strong background in H&S and regulated environments is essential. Experience in an outsourced or contracted O&M environment is desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the Widnes wood processing and biomass fuel facilities.
  • Deliver daily biomass fuel production to meet required quality, volume and customer demand.
  • Champion Health, Safety and Environmental standards across all site operations.
  • Use KPIs, data and reporting to drive performance across safety, production, quality and cost.
  • Own fuel quality control, ensuring consistent standards and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with contracts, logistics and customers to coordinate deliveries and resolve day to day operational issues.
  • Build and manage strong relationships with key customers and plant operators at a senior level.
  • Identify and manage operational and contractual risks, escalating issues where required.
  • Lead, develop and performance manage the operations team.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance activities to maximise plant availability and minimise downtime.
  • Control budgets, optimise resources and deliver cost effective operations.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives, including waste reduction and efficiency gains.

Qualifications

  • WAMITAB/COTC.
  • IOSH or above.
  • Minimum Level 5 in leadership apprenticeship or equivalent.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in operations management, with at least 2 years in biomass fuel production or a related industry.
  • Proven track record of managing large scale production facilities and teams.
  • Engineering Background (preferred).
