We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Nurse to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP Fosse Way, a Category C resettlement prison in Leicester. HMP Fosse Way opened in May 2023 and provides state of the art facilities and a secure environment for delivering skills and qualifications to men, aiming to reduce re-offending rates.
As a Substance Misuse Nurse your responsibilities will vary. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, prioritising patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning. Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both group and one to one settings, with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model. Carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users. Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects and liaise with prescribers. Provide advice and information to individuals on a one to one basis and support in group work delivery. Occasionally be involved in dispensing, and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions. Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person-centred approach.
Hours: Monday - Sunday service - 37.5 hours per week 7 am - 8 pm 1 weekend in 4 No nights 4 week rolling rota
Salary: Annual salary £43,609 - £49,175 per annum, depending on experience.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Registered nurse with current NMC Adult and NMC Mental Health registration
- Evidence of continued professional development (CPD)
- RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake
- Experience working with opiate dependent patients
- Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge
- A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
Additional Requirements: Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and will undergo additional vetting and security checks. The position requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (RAO) check and current UK professional registration.
