About the role

At Sandwell Council we are excited to deliver our new Neighbourhood Working Model where we will focus on the issues and challenges faced within the Borough at a local neighbourhood level. Our new Neighbourhoods Services team is at the heart of this change and will drive forward this new way of working.

We are looking for people who are enthusiastic and committed to making a real difference to the lives of our residents and strive to deliver outstanding customer service. You will be the eyes and ears of the community, working closely with a range of community groups and partner agencies across Sandwell to coordinate activity and make a real difference to the area. You will be leading on exciting and informative local events, consultations and the promotion of community led activities across Sandwell. You will support residents, elected members, local organisations and businesses to identify local priorities and agree actions that will address the issues that affect people's quality of life, environment and health and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a visible, hands on presence and act as a vital point of contact for local businesses, local residents and the wider community to support their involvement in community ownership and promote local priorities.
  • Work closely with the Ward Co-ordinator to support ward based action plans and engagement.
  • Be prepared to work outside in all weathers. This role may involve some evening and weekend work to meet community needs.
  • Play a crucial part in problem solving for residents, being an instrumental part of positive change within communities, shaping projects and improving the lives and local area for people in Sandwell.

About you

  • Be educated to Level 4 or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years' experience of working within a complex environment.
  • Have experience of collaborative working and partnership models.
  • Have experience of project work, ensuring its completion.
  • Be customer focused, working effectively with others to deliver a responsive, efficient, agile, high quality service to residents.
  • Build meaningful and trusting relationships with councillors, residents, community and voluntary organisations and businesses in Sandwell.
  • Be able to work with everyone in our communities, and be committed to delivering equitable outcomes for all.
  • Be an effective problem solver and be accountable for delivering agreed actions.
  • Be ambitious for Sandwell's residents, always aiming to deliver the best possible service and drive long lasting change to improve people's lives.
  • Be passionate about making a positive impact for the communities of Sandwell.
