An exciting permanent position has become available within the Plastic Surgery Department, working on gates 28 and 28C. It is a full time role where you will work as a Ward and Assessment Unit Clerk, liaising with visitors, patients and staff, providing an efficient administration service and ensuring patient flow is coordinated. The department has a positive, enthusiastic and dynamic group of staff who need a like minded individual to join the team.
Main duties of the job:
- Communicate with visitors, patients, nursing and medical staff to help ward staff ensure patient care is coordinated safely and effectively.
- Ensure telephone calls and front desk enquiries are handled appropriately and communication is effective between all concerned.
- Ensure all medical notes are collected, collated, sourced and filed appropriately, including scanning of all assessment unit notes onto PPM.
- Ensure the stock levels are managed and supplies are ordered in a timely manner.
- Ensure patient flow is coordinated within the ward area.
- Ensure all relevant follow up appointments are made for all specialities.
- Ensure Trust values and behaviours are adhered to at all times.
Qualifications:
- Good general education to include CSE or GCSE in English Language and Maths or equivalent/experience.
Experience:
- Experience of working with filing systems.
- Experience of good customer or patient care.
- Experience working with IT systems.
- Previous experience in an administration role within a healthcare setting.
- A willingness to learn NHS computer software systems.
Knowledge and Awareness:
- Confidentiality issues.
- Awareness of own limitations.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proven record of excellent filing and organisational skills.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships.
- Demonstrate effective and clear written, verbal and telephone communication skills.
