Are you a BACP registered or accredited counsellor (to a minimum of level 4) or a second-year counselling student on a level 4 (or above) diploma? Do you want to volunteer in an environment where you can use your counselling skills to achieve the best for people? We are looking for Volunteer Counsellors who would like the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people who are directly and indirectly affected by alcohol and substance use. You will be expected to work in accordance with BACP guidelines and within our framework for counselling services, which promotes therapeutic safety and sound clinical governance. Roles are based in Pimlico and Shepherds Bush (Lupus Street, Pimlico, SW1V 3EQ or Edward Woods Community Centre, 60 Norland Rd, W11 4TX).
Responsibilities
- Providing counselling within the principles and boundaries of confidentiality.
- Maintaining appropriate boundaries in the therapeutic relationship.
- Working within your level of competency.
- Delivering counselling within a time-limited framework.
- Ensuring timely records in line with our information governance requirements.
- Receiving regular clinical supervision and line management.
- Following our policies and procedures e.g safeguarding children and adults.
- Understanding and following BACP ethical frameworks and codes of practice.
What we need from you
- Experience of at least 60 counselling hours.
- Able to attend an in-person placement during the working hours of Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm or Wednesday evening between 5pm - 8pm.
- Be able to provide availability for 3-5 clients per week, monthly supervision and placement meetings, and extra time to complete case notes, ad hoc data and tasks as required.
