We are looking for an enthusiastic receptionist to join our friendly and welcoming team, uniquely based in Uckfield Community Hospital. The working hours will be 5 hour shifts, 5 days a week, on a rota basis that is planned one month in advance. The shifts vary from a 7.45am to a 3pm start.

Main duties of the job:

  • You will be the first point of contact, both face-to-face and over the telephone and must have a professional, empathetic and personable manner.
  • The role will involve a variety of administrative duties to support the clinical team and smooth running of the practice.

About us:

We are a three-partner practice, based in semi-rural Uckfield, and currently have a practice population of 8000 patients. We have a CQC rating of 'good' and our recent GP patient survey overall experience was rated at 87%, against a national average of 67%. All staff are well supported by a strong management team, who value the importance of work/life balance.

Job responsibilities:

  • Answer general queries and guide patients with practice procedures.
  • Arrange appointments.
  • Signpost patients to the most appropriate service.
  • Support patients with registering at our surgery.
  • Answer the telephone and greet patients at the reception desk, always maintaining the highest level of professionalism.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Adherence to the strict confidentiality policy.
  • Available to work 25 hours per week, 5 hours per day, working a variety of shifts between 7.30am and 8pm. These are agreed at least one month in advance.
  • Previous experience in a GP environment would be desirable, but not essential for the right candidate as full training will be provided.
  • Experience of working with patients/the public.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
