Role Overview

Black Sheep Coffee is seeking a passionate and experienced Trainer to drive team development and operational excellence across our stores. Acting as a key business partner to Operations Managers, this role focuses on delivering impactful training programs, supporting new shop openings, and ensuring consistency in learning and development across the business. Collaborating closely with the Learning & Development Content Creator, the Trainer will contribute to updating and enhancing training resources, ensuring all materials align with brand values and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Training Delivery & New Shop Openings: Facilitate engaging and hands-on training sessions for baristas, supervisors, Head Baristas, and store managers. Provide on-site training support for all new shop openings during the pre-opening phase. Deliver training in coffee preparation, store operations, customer service, and compliance with brand standards.
  • Onboarding & Development: Conduct comprehensive onboarding programs for new hires, ensuring alignment with Black Sheep Coffee's culture, values, and operational standards. Develop tailored training plans to support promotions, skill development, and team performance improvement. Conduct workshops and refresher training to maintain consistency and excellence across stores.
  • Learning & Development Compliance: Ensure 100% completion of all e-learning modules on Mapal / Flow within assigned areas, working closely with Operations Managers to track progress. Regularly visit stores to observe practical demonstrations, providing feedback and corrective training as needed.
  • Performance Assessment & Feedback: Monitor team performance through in-store observations and audits, identifying skill gaps and recommending improvements. Collaborate with Operations Managers to set performance goals and track team development. Gather feedback from store teams and managers to continuously refine training programs.
  • Training Material Development: Collaborate with the Learning & Development Content Creator to update and enhance training manuals, e-learning modules, and other learning resources. Ensure all training content reflects current operational standards, brand updates, and industry best practices.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure all training programs align with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations. Promote adherence to Black Sheep Coffee's operational and brand standards across all stores.
  • Collaboration & Innovation: Partner with Operations Managers to identify and address training needs, ensuring alignment with regional and company-wide goals. Stay updated on industry trends and innovative training techniques to enhance learning delivery.

About You

Experience & Skills

  • Experience: Previous experience in training delivery within the coffee or hospitality industry, with hands-on knowledge of barista operations and store management.
  • Training Expertise: Proven ability to deliver impactful training programs, both in person and digitally.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent ability to engage, motivate, and inspire teams with dynamic and clear communication.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple training schedules, prioritise tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with coffee making equipment, operational software, and e-learning platforms such as Mapal / Flow.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with content creators and other team members to deliver cohesive training solutions.
  • Passion for Excellence: A genuine love for coffee and a commitment to delivering high-quality experiences for teams and customers alike.
