We are looking for a Trainee Transport Team Leader to join our growing Transport and Operations team at our Newcastle Depot. You will serve as a key point of contact for our Waste Services customers, therefore your passion for delivering excellent customer service is essential. Alongside this, you will support the coordination and development of a team of drivers, helping to ensure our day to day logistics operation runs efficiently and safely. This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You will be working in a fast paced environment where strong organisation, communication and decision making skills are key to success.
Job Activities
- Welcome and support customers across multiple communication platforms including telephone, email, live chat and face to face.
- Build strong, lasting relationships with customers and deliver excellent service at all times.
- Proactively manage high volumes of calls, emails and orders with accuracy and efficiency.
- Accurately create, record and schedule orders/services using bespoke IT systems.
- Handle customer queries and complaints professionally, ensuring a positive outcome.
- Support the daily coordination and planning of drivers across skips, hook and trade waste services.
- Promote the company's services and support business growth.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, tachograph and driver hours regulations.
- Assist with driver performance, engagement and development.
- Support driver administration including holidays, sickness and wage queries.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments including accounts and wider operations.
- Contribute to a positive team environment and promote company values.
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Excellent communication skills with a confident and professional manner.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a busy environment.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft systems and accurate data input.
