OVERVIEW

The D.E.Shaw group seeks a proactive, analytical individual with proven research and communication skills to join its External Communications group as an associate on its Thought Leadership team. This team produces markets-, economics-, and tech-focused content across a range of media to support the firm's fundraising, recruiting, and branding initiatives. The position offers the opportunity to work across the firm's investment, strategy, and support teams in a collegial, collaborative, and engaging work environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY

  • Manage the drafting and review process for content including white papers, speaking engagements and presentations, and short-form materials.
  • Collaborate with individuals spanning the firm's investment research and tech disciplines, as well as Investor Relations, Media Communications, and Legal & Compliance.
  • Ideate, manage, and implement projects to support the team's content sourcing, amplification initiatives, and infrastructure.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders across the firm to identify and execute on new ideas for thought leadership.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • A bachelor's degree or higher and at least two to five years of experience in roles requiring impressive analytical and research abilities, written communication, and project management.
  • Academic or professional experience in finance, economics, statistics, or another quantitative discipline is valued but not required; a successful candidate will demonstrate learning agility and a desire to rigorously analyze a range of problems.
  • Sound collaborative ability, commitment to high standards, and well-developed writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Individuals with a demonstrated ability to think critically, proactively drive projects, and work with colleagues across disciplines and seniorities will thrive in this role.

The expected annual base salary for this position is $135,000 to $185,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
