As the Food and Beverage Manager, you report directly to the Commercial Manager and will be directly responsible for every aspect of our Food and Beverage operation. You will work closely with the Head Chef to ensure all of our visitors are delighted by the food and drink they are served whilst ensuring the experience every visitor receives is of outstanding quality.
Every item we sell contributes to our conservation work, and by ensuring that we maximise our gross profit, we can continue to look after our special places forever, for everyone. Cliveden is one of the busiest estates of the National Trust and welcomes circa 500,000 visitors a year. As a destination property, we offer our visitors refreshments from 3 outlets and additional seasonal units which are created to serve our visitors at different events across the property.
This is a full-time role and is one of our key department leads. Combining your catering know-how with a strong commercial acumen, it’s your responsibility to oversee the management and development of the food and beverage team and offer at Cliveden. In this role, you will be tasked with the challenge of making sure our successful cafes continue to grow. You will be expected to look at ways to diversify the food and beverage offer into a year-round operation suiting both the requirements of our business and the full support of our on-site programming schedule which is led by our Visitor Experience team.
The ability to lead a team of both staff and volunteers and the experience in managing, leading, and developing people is essential. You’ll know exactly how to get the most out of your team and you’ll ensure they are fully trained and motivated to deliver a first-class service that makes visitors want to return.
Whether you’re managing a planned event on a busy sunny Sunday afternoon, a cold and rainy winter’s day, or anything in-between, you’ll manage everything with confidence whilst keeping a calm head under pressure. It will be up to you to make key decisions and put the right resources in place to impress our customers whilst upholding food safety requirements. Keeping costs down and visitor spend up; you will take care of every aspect of the food and beverage department. Working with the team to plan and organise the ever-growing business, you will be responsible for everything from recruiting and training staff, sales, strategy, and satisfaction of staff, volunteers, and visitors alike.
