About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and professional Class 1 Driver to join our transport team. This role involves regular local palletised Collection & Delivery (C&D) work, typically using the same vehicle and operating on familiar routes. However, flexibility is required to support changing business needs. A daily trailer collection from a local customer at 5:00pm is a key part of the role, with the trailer returning to our depot afterwards. We provide well-maintained vehicles and electric pallet trucks to support the operation. There may also be opportunities to assist within our National Distribution department for those looking to broaden their experience. Please note that some deliveries involve an element of physical work.
Key Responsibilities
- Collection & Delivery Operations
- Complete assigned collections and deliveries safely and efficiently.
- Follow all company and pallet network procedures and processes.
- Ensure all paperwork and delivery requirements are completed accurately.
- Maintain high standards of vehicle care and presentation.
- Health & Safety
- Comply with all company Health & Safety policies and industry regulations.
- Support the Transport Manager and Shift Supervisors in maintaining a safe working environment.
- Ensure Driver CPC training remains current and compliant (training provided and funded by the company).
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.
- Customer Service
- Deliver excellent customer service at all times.
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers.
- Raise any operational or customer issues through the appropriate channels.
- Maintain a professional appearance and ensure vehicles reflect company standards.
- National Distribution Support
- Assist with ad hoc national distribution requirements when required.
- Provide operational flexibility to support business demands.
Skills & Experience
- Essential
- Valid Class 1 (Category C E) Licence.
- Driver CPC Qualification.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Friendly, professional, and courteous approach to customer interactions.
- Preferred
- Minimum 12 months' experience driving a Class 1 vehicle.
Overtime
Contracted Overtime: Saturday mornings: 7:00am - 1:00pm Required approximately once per month
