This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is looking to join a well-established and supportive practice environment. The role involves working alongside a team of six veterinarians, supported by a large and skilled nursing team, allowing for collaboration and shared expertise across a wide range of cases.
The position offers exposure to a diverse caseload, covering both medical and surgical work, with the added benefit of guidance from a highly experienced team. The practice, in Pype Hayes, is a long-standing veterinary clinic located in the leafy West Midlands area, close to Sutton Coldfield and approximately 15 minutes by car from Birmingham city centre. It is well equipped with modern diagnostic and surgical facilities, including an ultrasound scanner, digital X ray, and a dedicated dental machine. The practice also benefits from the expertise of an experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon who provides advanced orthopaedic and fracture repair procedures.
The role is based on a 40 hour working week and includes participation in a weekend rota of two Saturdays in five, working from 9am to 4pm. However, the practice is open to discussing part time arrangements for the right candidate.
The organisation recognises that a veterinary career is about more than simply a rota or job title, and therefore offers a comprehensive benefits package to support both professional development and personal wellbeing. Employees have access to private medical insurance and a health cash plan, alongside 24/7 counselling and wellbeing support and life assurance at three times salary. Generous annual leave is provided, beginning with five weeks plus bank holidays and increasing with length of service. Team members also receive an additional paid "Day for You" each year.
Professional development is actively encouraged through a £1,500 CPD allowance, three days of paid CPD leave annually, and access to internal clinical communities and continuous learning opportunities through the organisation's 24 hour hospitals. Funded certificates and clear internal career pathways are also available. Additional professional support includes payment of RCVS, VDS and BVA fees, as well as relocation support and visa sponsorship where required. Long serving team members may also be eligible for sabbatical opportunities.
Lifestyle benefits include schemes such as Cycle to Work, season ticket loans, and discounts on the organisation's products and services.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified MRCVS with a strong commitment to clinical excellence and outstanding client care.
