We have an exciting new opportunity to join Boxford Farms Senior Management team, reporting directly to the Farms General Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day‑to‑day operations, productivity, and overall success of our Hill farm site. This role oversees staff, manages crop production activities, ensures regulatory compliance, and maintains high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with strong horticultural knowledge and excellent organizational skills who will help drive innovation, growth and profitability on our top & stone fruit enterprise.
Job Responsibilities
- Operational management
- Overseeing all daily farm operations, including planting, harvesting, crop husbandry, irrigation, feeding, and equipment use in line with company production strategies.
- Monitor crop health and take corrective actions to maintain productivity and quality.
- Staff Leadership
- Supervise farm workers, contractors, and seasonal staff.
- Provide training, scheduling, and performance oversight.
- Foster a safe, positive, and productive work environment.
- Equipment & Facility Maintenance
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs for machinery, vehicles, and infrastructure.
- Ensure all equipment is operated safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant worksite.
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to all local, state, and government regulations related to agriculture & horticulture, labour, and environmental standards.
- Implement and monitor health and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and reports as required.
- Financial & Administrative
- Assist with budgeting, cost tracking, and resource allocation.
- Manage purchasing of supplies and services within approved guidelines.
- Provide regular updates to management on production performance, issues, and opportunities.
- Quality Assurance
- Maintain high standards of product quality and consistency.
- Implement best practices for sustainable farming and environmental stewardship.
- Monitor soil health, water usage, and overall site condition.
Qualifications & desired skills
- Driving Licence Category B (Car).
- Proven experience in farm management or agricultural operations.
- Proven experience in staff management and labour coordination.
- Experience in Budgets and Commercial Planning.
- Strong knowledge of crop production practices including Technical, P&D, Irrigation, & Fertigation.
- Ability to operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Good problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Professional attitude and approach to work.
- Spraying Qualifications preferable BASIS & FACTS preferable.
