We are seeking a highly capable Systems Safety Engineer to contribute to the development and certification of advanced aerospace systems. This role involves conducting a full range of system safety assessments and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure robust, compliant, and well-reasoned safety justifications for complex technologies. Responsibilities

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative System Safety Analyses in accordance with ARP4761A, including FHA, PSSA, SSA, FTA, FMECA, CMA, PRA, and ZSA.
  • Generate clear and verifiable safety requirements for system and equipment design teams, ensuring alignment with programme objectives and airworthiness requirements.
  • Develop reasoned safety arguments for complex and novel systems, such as fuel cell systems for aerospace applications, and communicate these effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support familiarisation meetings and panel reviews with regulatory authorities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering; specialisation in safety, reliability, aerospace, or electro mechanical systems is desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in safety or reliability engineering, preferably within aerospace or aviation.
  • Strong working knowledge of Aircraft and System Safety Assessment per ARP4761A (or equivalent), including FHA, FTA, FMEA, CCA, etc.
  • Ability to analyse complex systems, identify critical failure modes, assess system reliability, and propose effective mitigation strategies.
  • Good understanding of risk assessment methods and ALARP justification principles.
  • Awareness of commercial aerospace certification regulations (e.g., Part 23 / CS 23, Part 33 / CS E).
  • Familiarity with safety assurance techniques for new safety critical products or components.
  • Experience in writing and managing system requirements.
  • Knowledge of systems development processes per ARP4754 (or equivalent).
  • Understanding of reliability prediction methods (e.g., MIL HDBK 217F).
  • Awareness of software certification (DO 178C) or hardware certification (DO 254) considerations.
  • Experience within a Part 21J Design Organisation is advantageous.
