Our estate is one of the largest and most diverse in the higher education sector, spanning approximately 250 buildings across central London and UCL East, including world‑class research facilities, teaching spaces, student accommodation and public‑facing venues. The Campus Experience & Infrastructure and Estates Development teams are responsible for shaping, managing and transforming this complex estate. Together, we support every aspect of the university experience, from delivering outstanding environments for teaching and research to developing long‑term strategies that will shape UCL for future generations. As we develop our ambitious Estates Vision 2050, we are creating a more sustainable, efficient and inclusive estate that supports growth, innovation and academic excellence. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team at the centre of that transformation and play a key role in shaping the future of one of the world's leading universities.

About the role

Please note we are recruiting 2x these positions. As an Estates Strategy Manager, you will help shape the future of UCL's estate by supporting the development and delivery of the university's Estates Vision 2050. Working across a wide range of strategic initiatives, you will contribute to estate, property and space planning projects that influence how UCL utilises and develops its campuses over the coming decades. You will work closely with academic departments, professional services teams, estate specialists and external consultants to develop evidence‑based strategies that support teaching, research and student experience. The role will involve analysing estate and space data, supporting feasibility studies, developing business cases and coordinating strategic projects across a diverse property portfolio. You will help identify opportunities to improve space utilisation, support estate consolidation and contribute to long‑term planning decisions that balance operational needs with future growth ambitions. This is a highly collaborative position that offers exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to contribute to major institutional transformation programmes. It is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys combining strategic thinking, analytical insight and stakeholder engagement to deliver meaningful change.

About you

You are a collaborative and commercially aware professional with experience working on complex projects within estates, property, real estate, space management, strategic planning or related environments. You are comfortable analysing data, interpreting complex information and translating your findings into clear recommendations, reports and business cases that support informed decision‑making. You have strong stakeholder management skills and can build effective relationships with colleagues, consultants and senior decision‑makers across a wide range of disciplines. You may currently be working as an Estates Planner, Estates Strategy Manager, Space Planner, Property Manager, Real Estate Analyst, Strategic Planning Manager, Asset Manager or Project Manager and are looking for an opportunity to influence long term estate strategy within a large and complex organisation. Most importantly, you are someone who enjoys solving problems, working collaboratively and driving positive change. You are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to projects that will have a lasting impact on the future of a world leading university.
