iGii invites applications for a Senior Development Scientist with deep expertise in electrochemical heavy metal sensing to join our rapidly expanding R&D department. In this high growth role, you will lead the development of sensors for the electrochemical detection of heavy metals, supporting the company's innovation roadmap and commercial goals.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PhD or specialist Masters) and/or relevant industry experience in electrochemistry.
  • Proven hands on experience with electrochemical heavy metal detection.
  • Significant R&D experience with application and evaluation of electrochemical techniques in a sensor development environment using low concentrations of analytes.
  • Experience developing sensors or nanotechnology for heavy metal detection.
  • Knowledge of voltammetric techniques such as ASV, SWV, DPV, CV, LSV.
  • Track record of translating research into commercially viable products or solutions and delivering projects that meet commercial and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong experimental design, execution and interpretation skills.
  • Solid understanding of GLP, laboratory practices and working within a regulatory environment.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and contribute to internal or external reviews.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, professional development and scientific curiosity.
  • Prior experience in electroplating or electrodeposition (desirable).
  • Familiarity with scaling up from laboratory to pilot scale and commercialisation efforts (desirable).
  • Awareness of IP generation and protection processes (desirable).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects or mentor junior scientists in an industrial setting (desirable).

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with R&D and Engineering to develop products and processes for real world viable solutions.
  • Develop novel methodologies and process optimisation routes for heavy metal sensing.
  • Benchmark performance against SPEs and Au electrodes.
  • Prepare and optimise buffer solutions suitable for heavy metal sensing.
  • Run accumulation and stripping experiments using appropriate electrochemical techniques with optimised parameters.
  • Detect heavy metal ions with Gii electrodes from ppm to ppb range.
  • Manage rigorous experiment design, data management, analysis and interpretation to drive product development.
  • Prepare high quality technical documentation including standard operating procedures and reports.
  • Keep current with trends in heavy metal sensing through literature review.
  • Support and mentor other development scientists and the wider team to achieve key performance parameters.
