An exciting permanent position has become available within the Plastic Surgery Department, working on gates 28 and 28C. It’s a full time role, where you will work as a Ward & Assessment Unit Clerk, liaising with visitors, patients and staff and providing an efficient administration service and ensuring patient flow is coordinated. The department has a positive, enthusiastic and dynamic group of staff who need a like-minded individual to join the team.
Main duties:
- Communicate with visitors, patients, nursing and medical staff to help ward staff ensure patient care is coordinated safely and effectively.
- Ensure telephone calls and the front desk enquiries are handled appropriately and communication is effective between all concerned.
- Ensure all medical notes are collected, collated, sourced & filed appropriately; including scanning of all assessment unit notes onto PPM.
- Ensure the stock levels are managed and supplies are ordered in a timely manner.
- Ensure patient flow is coordinated within the ward area.
- Ensure all relevant follow up appointments are made for all specialties.
- Ensure Trust values and behaviours are adhered to at all times.
Essential person specification requirements:
- Qualifications: Good general education to include CSE or GCSE in English Language and Maths or equivalent/experience.
- Experience: Experience of working with filing systems. Experience of good customer or patient care. Work with IT systems. Previous experience in an administration role within a healthcare setting. A willingness to learn NHS computer software systems.
- Knowledge and Awareness: Confidentiality issues. Awareness of own limitations.
- Skills and Abilities: Proven record of excellent filing and organisational skills. Keyboard skills. Develop and maintain positive working relationships. Demonstrate effective and clear written, verbal and telephone communication skills. Work with demanding workloads and prioritise tasks. Maintain a safe working environment for self and others. Willingness to take on tasks.
