We are recruiting experienced or newly qualified Band 5 Staff Nurses to develop in acute neurology medicine at Royal Preston Hospital. The role will provide care for patients with acute and chronic neurological conditions and will support their clinical and psychological needs in an acute setting.
Main duties of the job:
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care to meet individual needs.
- Provide patient education and health promotion.
- Delegate and supervise junior staff to deliver coordinated care.
- Proactively manage risk, ensuring patient safety and compliance with health and safety legislation.
- Assist in setting and monitoring standards of care to improve patient experience and outcomes.
- Communicate information to multidisciplinary teams and external organisations for seamless care.
- Maintain accurate clinical records promptly and in accordance with professional standards.
- Act as a role model, representing a positive image of the team and the organisation.
- Promote equality in care, recognising and meeting individual needs and choices.
- Ensure the environment of care is safe, well equipped and hygienic.
- Participate in the education and training of junior staff.
- Maintain and develop professional competence and extend knowledge and skills within scope of role.
- Engage with local and Trust wide changes and developments in nursing practice.
- Resolve issues and complaints locally and report outcomes to line manager.
Person specification:
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance and relevant policies.
- Aware of changes within nursing practice.
- Understanding of ethical issues.
- Evidence of clinical competence in the specialty.
- Knowledge of leadership and management principles.
Qualifications & Education:
- Appropriate NMC registration.
- RN1 or RN2 General Nursing posts experience.
- Diploma in Nursing.
- Mentorship qualification or willingness to complete it within 18 months.
- RN8 or RNC Children's Nursing posts experience.
- Evidence of continuing education or development for experienced Band 5 nurses.
- Degree (preferable).
