If so, NHS Professionals are recruiting for Registered Mental Health Nurses to work at Southampton General Hospital to join the bank. As a Registered Mental Health Nurse, you will promote and support a person’s recovery. Flexible bank shifts, long‑term placements for Band 5 Mental Health Nurses are also available at University Hospital Southampton.

Main Duties:

  • Assess and plan nursing care requirements.
  • Build relationships with, reassure, listen to, and talk to patients.
  • Combat stigma and help patients and families manage it.
  • Administer medication.
  • Support patients with everyday tasks including personal care.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide high quality care to patients.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
  • Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment.

Person Specification:

  • Minimum of 6 months MH RN UK (Private or NHS) hospital/Prison experience within the last 2 years or completion of a Return to Practice within the last 2 years.
  • NMC registration.
  • Experience of working within a mental health hospital setting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high standard of record keeping.
  • Be able to work as an independent practitioner.
  • Be proficient in the delivery of care to patients.
  • Undertake regular mandatory training.
  • Must hold Valid PMVA Certificate.

Qualifications:

  • At least 6 months experience as a Mental Health Registered Nurse (or equivalent position) in a mental health hospital or prison setting within the last 2 years, with ability to carry out basic clinical observations.
  • Minimum: Hold a MH Nursing Degree and have valid NMC registration.
