Ocean Infinity is seeking ambitious, collaborative, and innovative Geotechnical Engineers to join its growing team. The successful candidate will join the Geotechnical – Service Delivery team and participate in the technical delivery of offshore geotechnical site investigations, including coordination of onshore laboratory testing campaigns and subsequent geotechnical/site characterisation reporting.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed soil descriptions in accordance with ISO/BS standards.
- Conduct index laboratory tests (water content, soil wet/dry density, undrained shear strength index). Ensure accurate documentation, sample handling and compliance with laboratory quality procedures.
- Participate in offshore geotechnical acquisition activities when required, contribute to data quality checks during field operations, and ensure preparation and delivery of high‑quality deliverables.
- Process in situ test data (e.g., CPT and SCPT), perform QA/QC checks, and prepare processed data outputs.
- Check laboratory test results for compliance with standards and assess correspondence with expected soil behaviour.
- Prepare report deliverables, including factual reporting, geotechnical logs, and appendices.
- Develop and issue test specifications for advanced laboratory testing (triaxial, oedometer/CRS, cyclic tests); select and schedule appropriate tests based on project design needs and soil conditions.
- Contribute to forward‑thinking initiatives and geotechnical innovations to enhance workflows, data analysis and deliverable quality.
- Adhere to Ocean Infinity's management system policies and ensure HSE compliance during offshore operations.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or related discipline.
- Minimum of three years of relevant offshore geotechnical engineering experience within the offshore energy sector.
- Strong knowledge of offshore geotechnical methods (CPT, borehole sampling, geophysical survey techniques).
- Familiarity with coding in Python and/or MATLAB for data processing or analysis.
- Creative and proactive problem‑solving skills and passion for improving workflows and data quality.
- Excellent organisational skills, capable of prioritising tasks in a fast‑paced, delivery‑focused environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to present technical information clearly to clients and stakeholders.
- Thoughtful, thorough, and proactive approach to decision‑making and project execution.
