The Commercial Gas Heating Test Technician is responsible for providing the highest standards of maintenance in the most efficient manner to maintain, adjust, set up and test products before re‑hiring or installation. The primary focus of the role is the preparation of hire, heating, burners, and boiler equipment and ancillaries. The goal is to maximize productivity and enhance the overall customer experience and improve operational technical processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose system problems while servicing products and testing equipment.
  • Collaborate with hire, service desks, sales, and operations teams to establish strong communication channels and share key customer insights.
  • Use cutting‑edge software, technology, and a variety of hand‑tools to diagnose and repair units following blueprints or engineering specifications.
  • Communicate with supervisors, regional hires, operations managers, senior technicians, and customers regarding updates and continuous improvement.

Internal Controls & Administration

  • Strong knowledge of customer service principles.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Analytical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic software, apps, and MS Office Suite.

Skills and Capabilities

  • Knowledge of the manufacturing industry (advantage).

  • Appropriate skill‑based certificates, including F‑Gas and Commercial Gas Safe CCN1.
  • Ability to cover depot standby and call outs on a planned scheduled basis, including weekdays, weekends and bank holidays when required.
  • Forklift driving (advantage).
  • UK driver’s licence, as a company vehicle will be allocated.
  • Right to work status confirmed for the country of application.
