About the Role
Our kitchen is compact and efficiently run, best suited to a team of two chefs during service. Despite its size, the operation is highly organised and capable of a busy Sunday lunch service. You’ll work closely alongside the Head Chef, helping lead the team and ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently at all times.
As Sous Chef, you’ll play a key role in supporting day‑to‑day kitchen management, maintaining consistency and standards, controlling costs and waste, and assisting with menu development alongside the Head Chef. We encourage collaboration within the kitchen, and your ideas and input into future menus and specials will be valued. This is a full‑time role condensed into just 3.5 days per week, offering an excellent work‑life balance.

What You’ll Do
- Prepare and cook a range of pub classics and seasonal dishes to a high standard in a fresh food kitchen
- Support and help lead the kitchen team during busy services
- Assist the Head Chef with stock control, ordering, GP management, and minimising waste
- Maintain quality and consistency during high‑volume service periods
- Ensure a clean, safe, and well organised kitchen in line with food hygiene regulations
- Contribute to menu development, specials, and future food ideas
- Help train, motivate, and support junior team members
- Work closely with the Head Chef to deliver excellent customer experiences
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie ready to step up
- Experience working within a busy fresh food kitchen environment
- Passion for quality food and presentation
- Strong organisational, leadership, and time management skills
- Good understanding of kitchen costs, stock control, and waste management
- A positive attitude and team focused mindset
- Ideally a UK driver (public transport can be an issue)
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
Why Join Us
- Excellent work‑life balance with a condensed 3.5 day working week
- Be part of a friendly, well‑organised, and supportive team
- Opportunity to grow and develop within the business
- Have real input into menus and the direction of the kitchen
- Work in a busy, rewarding kitchen environment with strong systems in place
