Decontamination is responsible for the provision of sterile equipment and instrumentation for use in surgical and interventional procedures in hospitals across England and Glasgow. The unit operates 24 hours a day/7 days a week with rotating shifts covering days and nights as required. We have an opportunity for a Sterile Services Technician to join their team of staff in the Decontamination department. This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.
Duties of this role include:
- Carry out all stages of the decontamination process including cleaning, checking, assembling, packing, sterilising, and dispatching reusable surgical and medical devices.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure all items meet required infection control and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all processes undertaken, including batch and load traceability data, in line with departmental documentation requirements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure effective team performance and meet service deadlines.
- Participate in all mandatory training and professional development required for the role.
- Stay up to date with all departmental procedures, safety protocols, and updates in decontamination standards.
