Overview
Job Title: Quality Inspector
Location: Sheffield
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed visual and, where applicable, dimensional inspections on composite components across shifts.
- Inspect composite repair operations and validate repair quality against established procedures and standards.
- Utilise MES to track, route and control parts throughout the production process, ensuring accurate status updates and efficient workflow.
- Identify, document and disposition non-conformances within the MCTC Manufacturing Execution System.
- Conduct line-side inspections to support real-time quality decision making and prevent defects from progressing.
- Participate in practical problem-solving (PPS) activities with engineering and production teams for quality concern resolution.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation within MES.
- Support new product introduction activities through inspection validation and process capability assessment.
- Collaborate with production planners to optimise product routing and minimise bottlenecks.
- Monitor and report on quality trends to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Knowledge, skills & experience
- Proven experience in composites inspection or detailed quality inspection for both visual and structural components.
- Experience working with carbon fibre composite materials and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of composite repair techniques and repair inspection criteria is highly desirable.
- Experience using Manufacturing Execution Systems such as Delmia Apriso or similar production control systems is advantageous.
- Understanding of dimensional inspection techniques and use of inspection equipment (e.g., CMM, scanning arms) is desirable.
- Experience of working in a low volume/niche vehicle manufacturing environment is advantageous.
- Understanding of automotive quality processes (APQP & PPAP) is beneficial but not essential.
- PC literate with ability to process data in Microsoft Excel and other quality systems.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work under pressure and make sound quality decisions in a fast-paced production environment; good IT skills.
