As an apprentice within our Mechanical Fitting team, you'll gain hands-on experience across all aspects of electrical and mechanical engineering within the rotating machinery industry. Our work is varied, technical and often highly complex, making this an excellent opportunity to develop strong engineering skills in a supportive environment. You’ll work from our Sheffield facility, supporting local industry as well as specialist markets including Oil & Gas, Marine, Renewables and Water.
Key Responsibilities
- Producing components using hand fitting techniques
- Repairing and refurbishing mechanical assemblies
- Dynamic balancing of rotating machinery
- Carrying out laser alignment activities
- Maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment
You’ll also attend college-based lectures, practical workshops and site visits in line with your training programme.
Training & Qualifications
This is a 4 year Level 3 Engineering Technician (Mechatronics) Apprenticeship, starting in September 2026, which includes:
- A 6 month block release at AMRC
- Day release for the remainder of the apprenticeship
On completion, you will achieve a Level 3 Engineering Technician qualification in Mechatronics.

- A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C/5 (or equivalent), including Maths, English and Science
