Department Overview: The Asset Management department is a key part of the Logistics function, a shared service for the MJ Quinn Telecoms and Energy divisions. The department ensures that testing equipment and assets for use by in-field engineers are fit for purpose and compliant with relevant regulations. The department consists of two main areas: an Audit team, responsible for in-field auditing of engineers and their equipment, and the Service Centre Tooling Workshop, responsible for the testing, maintenance, repair, and calibration of equipment.
Job Objective: The Equipment Inspector will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and processing equipment within the Service Centre at the Knowsley Logistics Centre. This includes equipment returned from engineers' vans and equipment being prepared and issued. The role ensures all assets are safe, compliant, and correctly recorded within company systems prior to reissue.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Inspect, test, and assess equipment and PPE returned from field engineers' vans
- Carry out pre-issue inspections to ensure all equipment is fit for purpose and compliant before being issued
- Perform PAT testing, calibration checks, and basic functional testing in line with regulations and company procedures
- Identify defective, damaged, or non-compliant items and ensure appropriate actions are taken (repair, quarantine, or disposal)
- Perform basic repairs and maintenance where appropriate within the Service Centre capability
- Accurately record all inspection, testing, repair, and issue activities within internal systems
- Ensure full traceability of assets, including returned, repaired, and newly issued equipment
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and internal procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment within the Service Centre
- Support continuous improvement of inspection, testing, and logistics processes
- Attend training relating to new equipment, systems, or regulatory requirements
Person Specification
Essential:
- Telecommunications industry experience
- Demonstrated experience working according to key health and safety and regulatory requirements for equipment inspection and calibration
Desirable:
- Auditing experience, in particular safety aspects of tooling/assets
- Experience working with Telecommunications test equipment
- Equipment PAT testing and calibration experience
- Experience in mechanical and electrical equipment testing and maintenance
