Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer responsible for leading Electrical Engineering design and technical guidance within large multidisciplinary projects across the Northern Region.
Responsibilities
- Meet the requirements of a Senior Electrical Engineer grade and have a proven track record in delivering projects for your discipline and in line with client expectations.
- Work in a joint leadership capacity within a mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team, providing design and technical advice in the capacity of a project manager on a wide range of projects.
- Review design programmes and ensure that sufficient resources are available to complete work in line with technical and commercial performance and delivery.
- Work independently with initiative and minimal supervision on all technical aspects, or bring specialist experience to the role.
- Interpret client requirements and project needs to meet full delivery objectives.
- Promote WSP's capabilities and expertise in the region.
- Supervise the completion of detailed designs and oversee the work of others in this function.
- Consider the feasibility of the project specific to the discipline and lead the overall feasibility study.
- Take responsibility for directing others in the production of detailed and performance specifications for the discipline, subject to review by colleagues prior to issue.
- Develop and line‑manage junior staff.
Required Experience and Skills
- Proven track record of delivering a variety of projects in terms of scale and sector; experience in the North East and client‑sector knowledge is beneficial.
- Ability to engage with clients, contractors and design team members in technical discussions, coordination and debates.
- Capability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically and effectively to construction professionals and client teams.
- Detailed understanding of the regulations applicable to the discipline and the ability to demonstrate this through calculation.
- Working knowledge of latest electrical design software packages to allow the allocation/direction of work on projects.
- Experience working with Revit MEP or other 3D design software and familiarity with BIM360 collaboration review tools.
- Must be able to obtain UK vetting level of Security Check (SC).
Qualifications & Certifications
- BEng, BSc or MEng in an applicable engineering discipline.
- CIBSE, IET or Engineering Council Chartership, or working towards it.
- RevitMEP training applied to the discipline.
