Shape the Future of General Aviation Underwriting at Everest! Everest Insurance is continuing its strategic build‑out of the Aviation platform, and this is a rare opportunity to join the Aviation team at a pivotal stage of growth. We are looking for a Senior General Aviation Underwriter to play a leading role in expanding a high potential portfolio within a business that combines entrepreneurial agility with global strength. This is more than a pure underwriting role; it is a chance to influence strategy, shape underwriting appetite, and build a market‑leading presence in the London Market.
Why Choose Everest Aviation:
- A focused, growth‑oriented platform with strong backing and appetite for innovation
- Access to global distribution and reinsurance capabilities, enabling complex and bespoke solutions
- A collaborative underwriting culture across classes, supporting cross‑class insight and portfolio optimisation
- Clear ambition to become a leading London Market player, measured by underwriting discipline and sustainable ROE
Opportunity: As the Senior Underwriter, you will take ownership of the profitable growth and development of the General Aviation portfolio, contributing directly to Everest’s wider aviation strategy. You will operate with significant autonomy, while influencing the direction of the class and helping position Everest as a go‑to market for brokers and clients in the GA space. Within General Aviation, you will have the opportunity to build and scale a portfolio with genuine ownership, supported by a business that values underwriting excellence over volume.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, grow and actively manage a profitable, sustainable portfolio
- Define and implement underwriting appetite, strategy and guidelines
- Analyse portfolio performance and refine approach to optimise returns
- Collaborate across underwriting classes to deliver best‑in‑class solutions
- Support the development of reinsurance strategy
- Represent Everest in the London and international markets, building strong broker relationships
- Ensure adherence to governance standards across aggregation and reporting
- Play a key role in building and developing a high‑performing GA team
- Work closely with Claims, Reserving, Distribution and Ceded Re to deliver a fully aligned underwriting approach
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong General Aviation underwriting experience within the London Market (Lloyd’s or Company Market)
- Proven ability to build or materially contribute to a profitable underwriting portfolio
- Commercially astute, with a strong grasp of pricing, risk selection and portfolio management
- Credibility with brokers, clients and internal stakeholders
- Strategic mindset with the ability to translate ideas into actionable plans
- Collaborative approach and ability to leverage global resources across a platform
- High levels of drive, ownership and accountability
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Why This Role Stands Out:
- Looking to step into a broader, more strategic underwriting position
- Motivated by the opportunity to build something and have visible impact
- Interested in joining a business where underwriting discipline and growth are genuinely aligned
- Currently in a role where portfolio ownership or flexibility is limited, and looking for greater influence
What If I Don’t Meet Every Requirement? At Everest we are dedicated to building an inclusive and authentic workplace. If you are excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every element in the job description, we still encourage you to apply. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles. Please let us know if you need any accommodations throughout the application or interview process.
