The Opportunity
As Senior EHSS Advisor, you will work closely with the EHSS Director to support and develop a robust Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Sustainability framework across multiple UK locations including manufacturing facilities, technical operations, laboratories and corporate environments. You will play a key role in driving consistency, compliance and continuous improvement while ensuring all sites remain audit ready and aligned with recognised international standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the deployment and delivery of EHSS strategy across multiple UK sites
- Drive compliance and continuous improvement across Environmental, Health & Safety Management Systems
- Support and maintain ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 22301 management systems
- Coordinate and lead internal audit programmes across multiple locations
- Support external certification and surveillance audits
- Conduct site inspections, compliance reviews and risk assessments
- Lead and support incident investigations and root cause analysis activities
- Monitor EHSS performance metrics and provide meaningful reporting to senior stakeholders
- Drive standardisation of EHSS processes, procedures and governance frameworks
- Support business continuity planning, resilience and crisis management activities
- Collaborate with operational leadership teams to improve EHSS culture and performance
- Deliver coaching, mentoring and training to managers and site teams
- Support sustainability initiatives including environmental reporting and carbon reduction programmes
What We're Looking For
We are keen to speak with experienced EHSS professionals who have operated within manufacturing, engineering, industrial, technical, pharmaceutical, aerospace, defence, life sciences or similarly regulated environments.
Essential Experience
- Significant experience within Environmental, Health & Safety roles
- Strong knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
- Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
- Experience supporting or managing multi site EHSS programmes
- Internal auditing and compliance management experience
- Strong understanding of UK Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
- Experience conducting risk assessments and incident investigations
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- Ability to travel regularly throughout the UK
Qualifications
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
- IEMA Qualified
- IOSH Certified
Highly Desirable
- Lead Auditor qualification
- ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management experience
- Security risk management experience
- Manufacturing or industrial sector background
- Sustainability reporting experience
- Carbon accounting knowledge including Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions
- Experience with CDP, EcoVadis or ESG reporting frameworks
