A leading delivery organisation within the UK power transmission and distribution sector is looking for a Senior Civil / Site Engineer to join their team on long-term, high-profile infrastructure programmes. You'll support the successful and safe delivery of civil works across live T&D environments, helping strengthen the resilience and security of the UK energy network. This position is an office based role and looking for someone to lead a team of two (Site Engineers). This scheme is to work on Overhead Line, National Grid project.
What you’ll be doing:
- Championing HSE best practice and ensuring consistent standards on site.
- Supporting temporary works planning and coordination (including design input and implementation).
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients, designers, subcontractors, and the wider supply chain.
- Advising engineering teams on setting out, methods, sequencing, and constructability.
- Reviewing drawings/specs and ensuring information is correct and buildable before works proceed.
- Coordinating with supervisors/foremen to ensure clarity of scope, constraints, and latest revisions.
- Managing the selection and requisition of materials, plant, and equipment in line with programme needs.
- Producing and reviewing RAMS, work packs and associated permits/controls.
- Keeping accurate site records/diaries, including changes, instructions, and key decisions.
- Ensuring ITPs are in place and completed correctly (incl. dimensional checks and quality records).
What we’re looking for:
- Degree in Civil Engineering with 8-10 years experience (from graduation).
- Heavy civil experience – previously worked within the Water, Rail, highways, Power T&D and Nuclear industry.
- Strong background delivering civil engineering / construction works in a site-based capacity.
- Proven experience with ITPs, RAMS, temporary works coordination.
- Good working knowledge of UK H&S / environmental legislation and construction compliance.
- Confident communicator able to engage stakeholders from site teams through to client/engineering functions.
- Able to implement and manage safe systems of work and maintain quality throughout delivery.
