York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (LLP) is seeking an enthusiastic Bank Chef to work in the Main Kitchens of the Catering Department, across the East Coast Hospitals. The closing date for applications is 29 April 2026.

Are you a strong team player, friendly and motivated? Then we may have the role for you! Applicants must be able to demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to work variable hours. You must be self-motivated and possess strong interpersonal and organisational/time management skills. The ability to work under pressure, prioritise your workload, and carry out physical tasks is essential. A Driving Licence is required.

Main duties of the job:
  • Preparation & Cooking Tasks
  • Maintenance of Hygiene Standards
  • Food Safety, Assured Safe Catering
  • Health and Safety Legislation
  • Follow Department procedures and good practices
  • Keeping the kitchen areas clean
  • Monitoring food temperatures as part of HACCP
  • Washing up and other general cleaning duties
  • Knowledge of Special Diets
  • Organise daily working plan prioritising
  • Reorganise menus at short notice

The ideal candidate will have catering experience, be fantastic with customers, a good team player, and able to work unsupervised. Full training will also be provided. Enhanced rates apply when working at the weekend.
