Fernley Medical Centre is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Salaried GP to join our friendly, supportive and forward-thinking team. We are a long-established practice in the heart of Sparkhill, Birmingham, providing high-quality healthcare to a diverse patient population. Rated Good by the CQC, we are proud to be a high QOF-achieving training practice for both GP Registrars and Allied Health Professionals. Main Duties of the Role

• Providing comprehensive primary care services to patients
• Managing a varied and interesting clinical caseload
• Undertaking routine GP consultations and clinical decision making
• Contributing to chronic disease management and preventative healthcare
• Working collaboratively with the wider primary care team
• Supporting quality improvement initiatives and service development
• Participating in clinical meetings and educational activities

Key Responsibilities

• Make yourself available for surgery consultations, telephone consultations, home visits, prescription checks, paperwork, referrals and correspondence in a timely manner.
• Make professional, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems.
• Assess health care needs of patients with undifferentiated problems.
• Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
• Develop care plans in consultation with patients and in line with current management protocols.
• Provide counselling and health education.
• Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other providers as appropriate.
• Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
• Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions, avoiding handwritten prescriptions whenever possible.
• Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary or generically when clinically appropriate.
• Ensure that all work carried out which carries a private fee is properly recouped and accounted for.
• Undertake all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Additional Responsibilities

• Ensure awareness and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines.
• Commit to lifelong learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
• Contribute to evaluation, audit and clinical standard setting within the practice.
• Contribute to the development of computer-based patient records.
• Summarise patient records and accurate Read coding.
• Attend training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
• Mentor additional roles within the practice.

Unauthorised disclosure of confidential information will result in disciplinary action and may lead to dismissal.
