Salary: £48,987.12 per annum (£22.43 per hour, plus 2% shift allowance)
Hours of work: 4 x 12 hour day shifts, followed by 4 days off (7am - 7pm)
A quick look at the role: We are looking for an experienced Engineering Shift Supervisor to lead and support the engineering function at our Redcar facility. This is a hands-on supervisory role, responsible for ensuring plant reliability, maximising operational uptime, and driving engineering standards across the site.
The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day maintenance activities, coordinate planned and reactive engineering tasks, and provide leadership to the engineering team to ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You will play a key role in promoting a proactive engineering culture, improving site performance, and ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
Your core responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate engineering and maintenance activities across the site.
- Drive plant availability through effective planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance management.
- Support and lead the engineering team during breakdowns, ensuring faults are diagnosed and resolved efficiently.
- Ensure engineering tasks are completed safely and in line with company procedures and compliance standards.
- Identify recurring faults and implement long-term engineering solutions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor engineering performance and support the development of best practice across the site.
- Liaise with external contractors and suppliers regarding specialist repairs and maintenance activities.
- Support engineering planning, permit systems and maintenance scheduling.
- Promote high standards of housekeeping, health & safety and environmental compliance at all times.
- Provide leadership, guidance and support to engineers and site operatives where required.
Here's what we require:
- NVQ Level 3 Engineering qualification, electrical bias preferred.
- Previous experience within a supervisory or lead engineering role in an industrial or production environment.
- Strong background in maintaining production machinery and equipment.
- Experience fault finding on PLCs, VSDs and relay logic circuits.
- Good understanding of planned preventative maintenance systems.
- Strong communication and team leadership skills.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem solving.
