Location: Field based - Surrey, West Sussex, South West London

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Main Purpose of the Job

To support the management of sub-teams within the wider RCA environment, ensuring high standards of quality are maintained.

Main Responsibilities

  • Conduct Reinstatement Cost Assessments (RCAs) in accordance with RICS guidelines.
  • Write, cost and sign off RCA reports from online and site gathered property data that contribute to the success of the team.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team on some of the more complex buildings within the client’s portfolio.
  • Quality assurance and peer reviews of RCA reports via thorough checking prior to issue, taking responsibility for updating schedules and costings, using SPONS data and applying existing building knowledge.
  • Impart technical knowledge and experience across the team, that positively benefits our clients and customers alike.
  • Undertake CPD in accordance with the requirements of your professional body, including receiving and delivering CPD within the surveying team.
  • Identify potential business opportunities outside of core client and assist the Head of RCA in obtaining new business with external clients and the wider Surveying business.
  • Link with the business process team to ensure good communications between the administrative RCA process and the surveying team.
  • Carry out any other duties in relation to the efficient operation of the team and assist the Head of RCA as required.

Areas of Responsibility / Accountability

  • Responsible for line managing a regional team, the quality and volume of their work, as well as their development and welfare.
  • Accountable to the Head of RCA.
  • Responsible and accountable for all RCA reports issued from your team.
  • Responsible for setting the high standards of work that we expect in accordance with RICS requirements.
  • Accountable for achieving pre set revenue and productivity targets for yourself and your team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • MRICS qualified.
  • Demonstrable experience in RCAs, building surveying or cost assessment.
  • Substantial technical surveying experience in the Property Management environment with a wide range of building types.
  • Sound commercial understanding of surveying ‘practice’ and ability to clearly articulate commercial performance with senior managers.
  • Experience and willingness to build relationships with the team to identify and drive improvement opportunities.
  • An in depth understanding of the H&S issues and regulations that apply to surveying, client management, and project delivery.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels within the business.

Technical Skills

  • RCA writing, costing and programme management and delivery skills.
  • Highly competent in the use of SPONS and Excel.
  • Understanding of building structure and materials.
