Salary: £35,875 per annum for a 39 hour week (includes 20% unsocial hours). Training is 37 hours a week; salary adjusts accordingly.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Protect the public by maintaining order and security within the prison.
- Serve as a peacekeeper, counsellor or teacher to support prisoners' rehabilitation.
- Build constructive, positive relationships with prisoners.
- Work within a scheduled shift pattern - evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
- Act as part of a single team to keep the prison safe for staff and prisoners.
Requirements:
- Minimum age 18 years.
- Meet Civil Service nationality requirements.
- Pass a medical and fitness assessment (including eyesight and hearing).
- Meet required eyesight standard with or without corrective lenses.
- Have suitable safety standard for training.
- For Category A high security roles: resident in the UK for the last 3 years.
- Tattoos are permitted if not offensive, violent or intimidating.
