Location: HMP Gartree, Gallow Field Rd, Leicestershire, LE16 7RP

Salary: £35,875 per annum for a 39 hour week (includes 20% unsocial hours). Training is 37 hours a week; salary adjusts accordingly.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Protect the public by maintaining order and security within the prison.
  • Serve as a peacekeeper, counsellor or teacher to support prisoners' rehabilitation.
  • Build constructive, positive relationships with prisoners.
  • Work within a scheduled shift pattern - evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
  • Act as part of a single team to keep the prison safe for staff and prisoners.

Requirements:

  • Minimum age 18 years.
  • Meet Civil Service nationality requirements.
  • Pass a medical and fitness assessment (including eyesight and hearing).
  • Meet required eyesight standard with or without corrective lenses.
  • Have suitable safety standard for training.
  • For Category A high security roles: resident in the UK for the last 3 years.
  • Tattoos are permitted if not offensive, violent or intimidating.
