We are passionate about making a difference and obsessed with quality. Our goal is to build a world where every resident can sleep safely at night, knowing their home is 100% safe.

The Pre-Construction Director - West Midlands is one of the most senior commercial roles in the business. Based out of our Dudley office, you will own the GP and revenue targets for the West Midlands pod, lead a team of estimators, surveyors and pre-construction managers, and be Harmony's most senior pre-construction presence in the region - visible to clients, credible in negotiations and the face of our capability across the West Midlands market. This is a build out role at the heart of how Harmony wins, plans and sets up every project for delivery. You will take real ownership of how the West Midlands operation runs, growing the pod from the ground up and bringing the right energy, accountability and resilience to our mission of saving lives through fire and height safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the GP and revenue targets for the West Midlands pod, managing performance against monthly forecasts with precision.
  • Act as Harmony's most senior pre-construction presence in the West Midlands - visible to clients, credible in negotiations and the face of our capability in the market.
  • Lead, develop and hold accountable a team of estimators, surveyors and pre-construction managers, building out the pod from the ground up as the West Midlands operation grows.
  • Drive bid strategy and conversion across a high volume pipeline of passive fire protection and building fabric opportunities across the West Midlands market.
  • Set the commercial standard for scope development and pricing across the pod - owning delegated authority on commercial positions and giving clear recommendations on works above threshold.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, frameworks and key decision makers across the West Midlands at a senior level.
  • Work closely with the delivery function to ensure a clean, accurate handover on every project won.
  • Ensure forecast accuracy, weekly reporting and that all commercial activity is kept current and accurate in Salesforce across the pod.
  • Contribute to wider business strategy as part of the pre-construction leadership group.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • An A-player mindset - high standards, extreme ownership and the drive to do things properly, the first time.
  • Proven track record of leading a pre-construction or estimating function within passive fire protection, building fabric or a closely related specialist subcontract discipline.
  • Commercially sharp, with direct experience of owning a P&L and managing teams against revenue and margin targets.
  • Strong bid and tender leadership experience across frameworks and negotiated works.
  • A natural leader who builds high performing teams and manages performance directly.
  • Excellent client facing skills, with the ability to operate credibly at senior levels.
  • Organised and rigorous in process, with an eye for detail on cost, programme and risk.
  • Based within commutable distance of our Dudley office, with the flexibility to travel across the West Midlands region as needed.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent industry experience.

Benefits

This is a chance to lead and build out one of Harmony's newest regional pods from the ground up at one of the UK's fastest-growing fire safety specialists - with real ownership of how we win, plan and set up projects across the West Midlands, and a senior seat at the table as we continue to expand nationally. At Harmony, we ask a lot - and we give a lot back. The hours are real, the standards are high and the work is demanding, but for those who show up, deliver and go the extra mile, the rewards follow.
