The production team ensures the premium breeding stock are well maintained and that high‑quality eggs are produced for hatching. This role involves managing the health and welfare of a large number of birds, ensuring they are fed, watered, and kept in a clean and healthy environment, and collecting high‑quality hatching eggs daily.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Ensure that stock has ready access to fresh water and a diet that maintains full health and vigor.
- Provide an appropriate environment with good ventilation and a comfortable resting area.
- Keep stock free from pain, injury or disease through preventative measures, rapid diagnosis and treatment.
- Provide sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the same kind for the stock.
- Avoid mental suffering to the stock by ensuring appropriate conditions and treatment.
- Observe all hygiene rules, including personal hygiene, hand washing, boot dipping/changing and wearing protective clothing.
- Strictly adhere to all bio‑security rules.
- Minimise floor eggs by training birds to use nest boxes as directed by management.
- Collect and record egg collections neatly and accurately.
- Weigh food accurately.
- Maintain house hygiene: dusting, light fitment cleaning, sweeping litter and clean bootdips.
- Keep nest boxes clean and in good working order.
- Record accurate house temperature, mortality and egg collections.
- Keep the farm clean and tidy.
- Adhere to all Farm Health and Safety rules and procedures.

You do not need prior poultry experience for this role. We require the following skills:

Salary and Benefits
Salary: £13.87 per hour (equivalent to £33,000 annually). 32 days’ holiday, including Bank Holidays.

Working Hours
The farm operates on a 6 days on, 2 days off shift pattern on a rolling basis. Starting time is around 7:00am and finishing time is around 3:30pm. Occasionally you may be asked to stay longer.
Additional Information
Strict biosecurity measures: visitors must shower before entering; farm clothing is provided and laundered in‑house; mobile phones and jewellery are not allowed on the farm, but employees may leave during break time (shower back in after returning). Candidates cannot hold any avian species at home.
