Disabled, elderly lady in Pontyates requires part time / relief personal assistant/carer to work as part of a team of carers to assist with day to day life. The work is on a rota basis (agreed in advance). Minimum one shift per week, expanding to more as required. All forms of personal care are required so experience is preferred, but training can be provided.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting with day to day life
  • Allowing the employer to stay independent
  • Personal care to a high standard: dressing/undressing, showering, washing, application of medicated and unmedicated gels and creams
  • Cooking & food preparation
  • Household chores such as cleaning & laundry
  • Transportation & chaperone to appointments (mileage paid)
  • Advocate for employer - can speak on her behalf, take notes etc when needed over the phone or in person
  • Online assistance
  • Ensuring the employer's safety at all times during working hours
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks requested by employer during working hours
  • Ensure compliance with Data Protection Act
  • Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and report any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately
  • Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority if the employer needs medical assistance

  • Ability to develop supportive and caring relationship with employer
  • Undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner
  • Be able to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary

Working in the employer's home and supporting her to access facilities and community activities.
