About the job: The holder of this post is responsible for servicing, maintenance, and repair of all Depot facilities at Wimbledon Depot. Adherence to depot protection, safety, quality and environmental procedures, rules and regulations in force. Responsible to the Depot Manager, the post provides support for all associated depot equipment and to react to depot faults as they arise; in addition, all maintenance records must be kept up to date.

You are a qualified electrician with experience of basic maintenance such as plumbing and carpentry or have a keen interest in DIY. You have experience working in a safe manner and understand the importance of following strict Health and Safety regulations. You are able to work within a safety critical environment and have great attention for detail. You are a focused individual that enjoys working as part of a team, a fantastic communicator and great listener, and have the ability to take initiative.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Work to laid down specification and depot quality systems/working instructions.
  • Complete and check necessary documentation associated with work sheets, etc.
  • Undertake work in a safe manner and lead by example.
  • Impart knowledge from technical staff briefs.
  • Carry out all monitored checks i.e. PAT testing and recording.
  • Legionella compliance checks.
  • Undertake in process quality checks.
  • Obtain, use, care for, and return all test equipment and/or common user/specialist tools.
  • Conduct weekly/monthly checks on depot plant and equipment.
  • Loading/Unloading of delivery vehicles.
  • Advise Depot Manager of any additional work outside of the specification.
  • Support communication processes Movement Managers for example accidents/incidents and depot faults.
  • Work to be undertaken to comply with depot quality procedures.
  • Supervise and mentor assistants and apprentices and provide on the job training where required.
  • Perform duties of own grade and below as directed and within competency.
  • Additional tasks as specified by Depot Manager, within competencies.

Minimal Requirements:

  • Successful completion of training and courses relevant to role.
  • Qualified in 17th/18th Edition wiring regulations with good general buildings maintenance experience.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Experience working with high voltages, such as 750V DC.
  • Report writing skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Full UK Driving licence as will be required to drive company vehicles including 3.5t Vans.
  • If you are not a qualified electrician you will not be considered for this role.

Training: At SWR we believe in providing our staff with the best tools and training in order to carry out tasks to the best of their ability. Upon joining, you will attend practical courses at our training centre in Basingstoke where you will attain recognisable qualifications and information in the following areas:

  • Personal Track Safety
  • INBS operation
  • Fork-lift licence
  • Emergency first aid

Working Pattern: Working an average of 37 hours over 5 days. Week one, Mon-Thu. Week Two, Mon-Fri & Sat.
