GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
To provide Audiology services to patients of the Driscoll Children's Health System. To assist with coordination of specific departmental activities and/or services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
- Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
- Assesses patient needs by selecting, administering and interpreting appropriate evaluation tools.
- Provides amplification and/or assistive technology to appropriate candidates.
- Educates parents and professionals on areas relating to hearing sensitivity, auditory processing and remediation of hearing loss.
- Educates patient and family members regarding evaluation findings and recommendations.
- Complies with clinical documentation requirements.
- Completes required documentation to support dispensing and purchasing hearing aids.
- Completes required documentation for newborn hearing screening program.
- Participates in a variety of patient care related team meetings.
- Participates in departmental meetings.
- Participates in process improvement.
- Communicates with referring and community physicians to maximize patient care, establish a professional relationship and develop a consistent referral base.
- Informs Manager of any difficulties.
- Maintains billable productivity level as required.
- Generates suggestions for improving work processes.
- Will provide Holiday/Week-end on call coverage as needed.
- Provides in-services within the department, hospital and professional and lay communities.
- Demonstrates an understanding of evidence based practice.
- Demonstrates the ability to use computer/software applications required for the job.
- Ensures all equipment is in good working order with current calibration.
- Complies with infection control responsibilities in the department.
- Will occasionally drive for Driscoll Children's Hospital business.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Makes and implements decisions compatible with organizational goals.
- Maintains composure, effectiveness, and flexibility under pressure.
- May be required to assume clinical supervisory responsibility of the newborn hearing screening program.
- Provides clinical supervision/guidance to the following job classes under the direction of the departmental Director: Hearing Aid Specialist, Rehabilitation Attendant, Rehabilitation Support Staff, Audiology Intern and Student Affiliates.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Master's degree in Audiology; OR Doctoral degree (Ph.D., Au.D.) or equivalent.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current Texas Licensure as an Audiologist. Current CPR certification or will complete within 90 days upon hire.
