We are seeking a highly organised, detail‑oriented Student Casework Administrator to join one of our centrally based departments. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the University's processes relating to student appeals, complaints, disciplinary matters, and other casework. You will act as a first point of contact for enquiries, guide students and staff through casework procedures, and help ensure that cases are handled efficiently, sensitively, and in line with University regulations. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong analytical ability, and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Casework Support
    • Act as a primary contact for queries relating to student casework, resolving issues independently where appropriate.
    • Provide clear, procedural advice and guidance to students and staff engaging with the Student Casework Team.
    • Maintain accurate records of cases and correspondence, and monitor case progress.
    • Gather and collate relevant documentary evidence for consideration by the department and other decision‑making bodies.
    • Draft correspondence and prepare recommendations on case outcomes under the supervision of the Casework Manager.
    • Provide secretariat support for a range of student casework meetings.
    • Prepare statistical data and reports to support committee reporting and review of casework procedures.
    • Identify issues arising from cases and contribute to improving regulations, processes, and the promotion of best practice.
  • Administrative Support
    • Provide flexible, proactive administrative support across the team, including assisting with responses to Freedom of Information (FOI) and Data Protection requests.
    • Maintain and update online guidance on University regulations and procedures for staff and students.
    • Assist in preparing annual reports for relevant University committees.
    • Contribute to developing and implementing University and departmental protocols and procedures.
    • Support improvements to administrative processes, IT systems, and office operations to enhance case‑handling efficiency.

A high level of general education, preferably to at least 'A' level standard or equivalent and proven administrative experience. Experience of handling casework, preferably with students in a higher education context. Awareness of the standards, legislation, and implications of data protection and freedom of information legislation in regard to confidentiality of data and information. Excellent IT skills, including managing and tracking high volumes of email, producing high quality word‑processed documents and creating and using spreadsheets to record and monitor business and produce workflow statistics. High standard of literacy and ability to draft correspondence and minutes etc, present a coherent argument and produce well‑presented reports.
