About HM Courts & Tribunals Service

HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is responsible for the administration of criminal, civil and family Courts and Tribunals in England and Wales. We support our court users and colleagues, helping people access justice.

Role Overview

The Operational Support Officer will work primarily in the courtroom, supporting the smooth running of court proceedings and performing administrative duties. You will progress cases through the court/tribunal system and provide customer service and administrative support to HMCTS functions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare papers and files for court, tribunals, hearings and meetings, including handling sensitive information and ensuring accurate outcomes.
  • Create and update digital records, interpreting information accurately for court files.
  • Communicate with the public, the Judiciary, court and tribunal users and other agencies.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for court users, including vulnerable witnesses and their legal representatives.
  • Prepare court/hearing rooms and ensure courts run efficiently.

Working Arrangements

Standard full time working hours are 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Part time, flexible and job sharing patterns are considered under the MoJ Flexible Working policy, with a minimum of 30 hours per week over four days where applicable.

Location

Worcester Crown Court, The Shirehall, Foregate Street, Worcester, WR1 1EQ. Occasional travel to Redditch Crown Court and Hereford Crown Court on a rota basis.

UK nationals, nationals of Ireland, Commonwealth countries with work rights in the UK. Citizens of the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein and family members with settled or pre-settled status. Other nationals with limited leave to remain or indefinite leave to remain eligible under EUSS conditions. Turkish nationals and certain family members with work rights in the Civil Service.
